Chelsea, Nicolas Jackson se remet en cause et envoie en signal

Nicolas Jackson a estimé que si la réussite était au rendez-vous, son total de buts avec Chelsea serait « beaucoup plus » élevé que son capital actuel de 11 réalisations. Au lendemain du match nul (2-2) face à Brentford, l’attaquant international sénégalais a fait le point de ses 6 mois passés en Angleterre, avec le concours du site officiel des Blues.

« J’ai raté beaucoup, beaucoup d’occasions, j’aurais dû marquer plus de 11 (buts) », déclare Nicolas Jackson, frustré après avoir manqué deux grosses occasions samedi contre Brentford (2-2). Heureusement qu’il finit par inscrire son 8e but de la saison en Premier League, en ouvrant le score pour Chelsea, rattrapé puis remonté par Brentford après les buts de Mads Roerslev et Yoane Wissa en seconde période. C’est Axel Disasi qui égalise dans les dernières minutes.

« J’étais très content [du but] parce que j’ai raté une occasion, mais j’ai continué et j’ai cru que je pouvais marquer et faire gagner l’équipe. Nous allons de l’avant et essaierons de gagner les prochains matchs », réagit l’attaquant des Lions, transféré de Villarreal pour 37 millions d’euros (24,2 milliards FCFA).

3 buts et 1 passe décisive après son retour de la CAN

Nicolas Jackson a amélioré son rendement avec Chelsea depuis son retour de la Coupe d’Afrique 2023. Double buteur lors des succès en FA Cup contre Aston Villa (3-1) et Leeds (3-2) les 07 et 28 février, l’international sénégalais est passeur décisif, la 3e fois en Premier League, à l’occasion du match nul (1-1) face à Manchester City, le 17 février. Sa prestation époustouflante contre Virgil van Dijk et Ibrahima Konate est l’une des bonnes notes de la défaite en finale d’EFL Cup (0-1) face à Liverpool, le 25 février.

« Je pense que ce n’est pas suffisant parce que j’ai raté beaucoup de choses, avoue Jackson. Pour moi, cela aurait dû être beaucoup plus, mais à chaque match, j’essaie de faire gagner l’équipe et d’aider mes coéquipiers et les coéquipiers m’aident aussi », insiste Nicolas, ne faisant pas du but une obsession. « À chaque match, même si je ne marque pas, le plus important est que l’équipe gagne. » Avant d’envoyer un signal : « Mais pour moi, ce n’est que le début, je commence tout juste à me sentir heureux en Angleterre et je continue d’avancer. »
