Le sélectionneur des Lions de Beach Soccer, Ngalla Sylla, est revenu sur la mise à l’écart de son buteur Seydina Mandione Laye. Au micro de Dsports, l’ancien entraîneur de la sélection marocaine a levé le voile sur l’absence de Mandione.

Coach, vous avez dévoilé récemment une liste élargie de 26 joueurs pour un stade de préparation pour la CAN 2024, mais on constate l’absence de votre meilleur buteur, Seydina Mandione Laye. Pourquoi vous avez décidé de vous passer d’un tel joueur ?

Seydina Mandione Laye n’est pas un joueur extraordinaire. Avec tout le respect que l’on a pour lui, je traite les joueurs de la même façon. Même si tu es le plus ancien, on ne peut pas te donner des faveurs. C’est l’équipe nationale, les règles sont faites pour être respectées. Ce que Mandione n’a pas fait.

On lui reproche quoi exactement ?

Son équipe, Yoff BS, était parti en Russie pour un tournoi. Ils ont joué cinq matchs là-bas. Quand ils sont rentrés, ils avaient des matchs en retard en championnat. Le préparateur physique et le staff médical ont jugé nécessaire que les joueurs de Yoff devraient se reposer pendant une semaine. A la reprise, l’équipe devait se rendre à Saint-Louis pour un match de championnat, ils se sont donc déplacés sans Mandione. J’ai demandé le pourquoi et on m’a répondu que le joueur n’était pas prêt. Le même jour, à ma grande surprise, je l’ai vu en train de jouer un tournoi à Yoff. C’est la raison pour laquelle je l’ai sanctionné. On ne peut pas s’absenter à un match de championnat pour aller jouer un tournoi. C’est inadmissible.

Cette sanction aura-t-elle des conséquences, à quelques semaines de la Coupe d’Afrique ?

Ce n’est pas un écart définitif. On va scruter ses performances avec son club. Ce qui se passe, ce n’est pas une première. Je me rappelle en 2021, Babacar Fall et Jean Ninou Diatta étaient partis jouer les navétanes. C’est très difficile, sur le plan médical, la Fédération fait d’énormes efforts et dégage des moyens pour ces joueurs. On ne peut pas comprendre des joueurs qui touchent des primes de 5 millions à 10 millions FCFA, avec l’équipe nationale et se permettent de jouer des navétanes ou tournois.

Qu’est-ce qu’il doit faire pour revenir ?

S’il n’arrête pas de jouer ses petits matchs, il ne reviendra pas en équipe nationale. Il est sanctionné pour trois semaines. Il lui reste cette semaine en cours. Sa place n’est pas acquise en sélection. Même s’il est huit fois meilleur buteur, c’est du passé. Seul le présent nous intéresse.
