Coupe CAF (préliminaires aller) : Jaraaf, les trois raisons d’y croire contre East End Lions

Sur le papier, Jaraaf de Dakar est logiquement favori de la double confrontation face à East End Lions de la Sierra Leone. En déplacement à Bo City, l’équipe médinoise sera très attendue ce dimanche (16h00 GMT).

En Sierra Leone depuis trois jours, le vice-champion du Sénégal veut frapper un grand coup ce dimanche contre East End Lions. Une rencontre comptant pour le premier tour aller des préliminaires de la Coupe CAF. Pour Jaraaf, tous les signaux sont au vert pour ramener un résultat positif de Bo City. Voici les raisons…

Malick Daf n’a jamais perdu un match de premier tour préliminaire aller

Trois ans après avoir montré le chemin de la phase de poules de la Coupe CAF au Jaraaf, Malick Daf retrouve les compétitions africaines de club. Très attendu ce dimanche sur la pelouse du Southern Arena stadium de Bo City, le technicien médinois n’a jamais perdu un match de premier tour préliminaire aller.

Avec Port en 2006, il avait démarré par un match nul à Lomé contre l’AS Douanes (0-0). Au retour, les Portuaires avaient fait le job à domicile (3-2).

Pour son premier match africain sur le banc du Jaraaf en 2018, Daf avait permis au club médinois de s’imposer contre les Togolais de l’US Koroki (1-0). Trois ans plus tard, Jaraaf avait pulvérisé le club nigérian du Kano Pillars au stade Lat Dior (3-1).

Les clubs sénégalais invaincus face aux équipes sierra-léonaises depuis 2009

Autre raison d’y croire : depuis la professionnalisation du football local en 2009, les clubs sénégalais s’imposent souvent face aux équipes sierra-léonaises ou au pire des cas un match nul.

En 2009, l’AS Douanes avait battu Ports Authority à l’aller (3-1) comme au retour (1-0) au premier tour préliminaire de la Ligue des champions. En 2009, cette fois-ci en Coupe CAF, Touré Kounda (actuel Mbour PC) avait pris le dessus sur la même équipe de Ports Authority à l’aller (2-1) avant de faire match nul au retour (2-2).

A Bo City, les Aigles de la Médina ont monté le chemin à suivre

C’est à Southern Arena stadium de Bo City que le football féminin sénégalais a écrit l’une de ses plus belles pages. Il y a quelques jours, les Aigles de la Médina ont validé leur ticket pour la phase de groupes de la Ligue des champions féminines.

Pour sa première participation au tournoi de l’UFOA-A dames qui a eu lieu en Sierra Leone, l’équipe médinoise, championne du Sénégal, a surpris tout le monde en s’imposant en « finale » face aux Determines Girls du Liberia (2-1). Un succès qui avait permis aux Aigles de soulever la coupe et succéder à l’AS Mandé du Mali.
