Le Président Macky Sall met une pression positive aux Lions en leur promettant une gratification bien au-delà de leurs espérances en cas de nouveau succès en Côte d’Ivoire, qui accueille la Coupe d’Afrique des Nations (CAN) du 13 janvier au 11 février 2024. C’était ce matin, à l’occasion de la cérémonie de remise du drapeau à l’équipe nationale du Sénégal, au palais de la République.
« Je m’engage à vous dire que si vous nous ramenez la Coupe d’Afrique, eh bien vous aurez des récompenses que vous ne pouvez pas imaginer, qui seront à la hauteur de votre sacre et de vos sacrifices », déclare le chef de l’Etat, Macky Sall, qui espère une conclusion heureuse de son 2e et dernier mandat à la tête du pays.
« Je compte sur vous pour ce cadeau que vous ferez encore au peuple sénégalais, mais que vous ferez pour le président. Personnellement, je le prendrais comme tel, comme l’a rappelé mon collègue, le capitaine Kalidou Koulibaly », sourit-il, assurant être dans le même état d’esprit, « avec le même enthousiasme et la même confiance » que lors de la précédente cérémonie de remise du drapeau, qui s’est conclue par « la plus belle conquête de l’histoire de notre football ».
Mais Macky Sall sait que la mission ne sera pas aisée pour les Lions, champions d’Afrique en titre et symbole d’un Sénégal qui a tout gagné en Afrique. « C’est dire que vous serez attendus en terre ivoirienne et que chaque match sera pour vous comme une finale », avise-t-il, faisant un clin d’œil à « Aliou Cissé, El Tactico. Aliou, nous n’attendons pas moins qu’une deuxième étoile pour notre équipe nationale. »

A l’entame de son discours, le Président Sall a tenu à « féliciter chaleureusement notre Nianthio national, Sadio Mané, qui vient de se marier ». Et comme si les mots ne suffisaient pas, Macky Sall l’apostrophe « Sadio, viens ici ! », pour lui témoigner tout son bonheur. « Que Dieu bénisse votre foyer et votre descendance ! » prie-t-il.
