Pour la sixième et dernière journée de la phase de groupes de la Coupe CAF, le Jaraaf de Dakar s’est déplacé en Algérie pour affronter l’USM Alger. Qualifiés en tant que deuxièmes du groupe avant le coup d’envoi, les hommes de Malick Daff avaient pour ambition de finir sur une bonne note face au leader algérien.
Dès le début du match, l’USM Alger a imposé son rythme, multipliant les offensives et mettant sous pression la défense du Jaraaf. Malgré cette domination algérienne, les Sénégalais ont su se montrer dangereux par moments.
À la 29e minute, Abdoulaye Oualy a eu une belle opportunité, mais le portier adverse s’est illustré pour empêcher l’ouverture du score. Quelques minutes plus tard, Abdoulaye Faty aurait pu bénéficier d’un penalty après avoir été fauché dans la surface, mais l’arbitre n’a pas bronché.
Les deux équipes se sont quittées sur un score de parité (0-0) à la mi-temps, laissant présager une deuxième période intense.
Une erreur fatale en fin de match
De retour des vestiaires, le Jaraaf a continué à résister aux assauts répétés des Algériens. Mais à la 80e minute, l’USM Alger a profité d’une erreur fatale du gardien sénégalais Cheikh Lo Ndoye. Sur un corner, ce dernier a mal boxé le ballon, offrant ainsi une opportunité en or à Belkacemi, qui n’a pas tremblé pour ouvrir le score (1-0).
Le Jaraaf a tenté de revenir au score en poussant dans les dernières minutes, mais sans succès. Dans les arrêts de jeu, à la 99e minute, Redouani a scellé définitivement le sort du match en inscrivant le deuxième but de l’USM Alger (2-0).
Une élimination confirmée par la victoire de l’ASEC Mimosas
Cette défaite est d’autant plus amère pour le Jaraaf que, dans l’autre match du groupe, l’ASEC Mimosas s’est imposée largement (4-0) face à Orapa United. Ce résultat élimine le club sénégalais, qui termine troisième du groupe et voit ses espoirs de continuer l’aventure en Coupe CAF s’envoler.
Le Jaraaf quitte la compétition avec des regrets, notamment après un match où il aurait pu espérer mieux en première période. Les hommes de Malick Daff devront désormais se concentrer sur le championnat, tout en tirant les enseignements de cette expérience continentale.
