Cheikh Kane Sarr n’avait que trop résisté aux cris racistes attribués aux supporters de Sestao River, ce samedi. Ce match de la 3e Division espagnole n’est pas allé à son terme après que le gardien sénégalais du Rayo Majadahonda, qui s’est confronté à ses insulteurs, a été expulsé. En signe de protestation, son équipe a décidé de quitter le terrain obligeant l’arbitre à suspendre la partie (2-1). L’attaquant brésilien du Real Madrid, Vinicius Júnior, cautionne la réaction.
Cheikh Sarr a répondu à une agression verbale longtemps endurée en sautant par-dessus la clôture derrière son but pour affronter plusieurs supporters de Sestao River. Ce n’était pas la meilleure chose à faire selon l’arbitre, qui décide d’expulser le Sénégalais. « Notre équipe ne reprendra pas le match après que notre joueur a été la cible d’insultes racistes inacceptables », proteste le Rayo Majadahonda dans un message publié sur X.
Selon la presse espagnole, l’arbitre Francisco García Riesgo a affirmé plus tard dans son rapport officiel de match qu’il avait été informé à la 84e minute par Sarr qu’il avait été traité de « putain de singe » et de « noir de merde ».

« C’est une honte absolue ce qui s’est passé aujourd’hui… Une partie du stade a proféré des insultes racistes à l’encontre de notre coéquipier Cheikh Sarr, en raison de la couleur de sa peau », s’indigne sur Instagram le capitaine du Rayo, Jorge Casado.
Tard dans la nuit de samedi, rapporte l’As, l’attaquant du Real Madrid et du Brésil a profité de ses réseaux sociaux pour exprimer son soutien au Sénégalais. « À Sarr et @RMajadahonda, que votre courage inspire les autres. Les racistes doivent être dénoncés et les matchs ne peuvent pas continuer avec eux dans les tribunes. Nous n’aurons la victoire que lorsque les racistes quitteront les stades directement pour aller en prison, une place qu’ils méritent », écrit Vinicius Jr.
Dans une déclaration publiée dans la soirée, la direction de Sestao River « réitère sa condamnation la plus absolue » du racisme et promet son aide pour « clarifier les responsabilités ».
