« Ils ont envoyé un jet privé pour moi…Un jet privé !» Azankpo balance sur son meilleur ami Mané

«Il me dit ‘petit, ils ont envoyé un jet privé pour moi, tu as entendu ? Un jet privé !’» Désiré Sègbè Azankpo révèle la réaction de Sadio Mané quand il devait s’engager avec le Red Bull Salzbourg. Une des nombreuses anecdotes sur l’enfant de Bambali racontées par le Béninois formé à Génération Foot, dans une interview accordée à Afrik Foot parue ce samedi.

Désiré Sègbè Azankpo revendique son amitié avec Sadio Mané, avec qui il a fait son apprentissage à Génération Foot puis au FC Metz avant leurs retrouvailles au Bayern. Le Béninois a alors certainement des histoires à raconter sur le Sénégalais. « Ah ça, j’en ai beaucoup », certifie-t-il.

Avant de déballer : « Celle qui me vient à l’esprit, c’est quand il devait signer en Autriche au Red Bull Salzbourg. Il m’appelle et me dit ‘petit (on s’appelle comme ça), ils ont envoyé un jet privé pour moi, tu as entendu ? Un jet privé !’ Je lui réponds ‘comment ça un jet privé ?’ Il insiste encore… ‘Oui un jet privé pour moi. Ils ont envoyé un jet privé pour moi !’ Je lui dis ‘un jet privé pour toi Sadio ?’ Il me répond ‘oui ! juste pour moi’. Je n’y croyais pas », relate Désiré Sègbè Azankpo à Afrik Foot.

Près de 10 ans après, le souvenir de cette signature de Sadio Mané en Autriche reste vivace chez l’international béninois (15 sélections), alors co-équipier du Sénégalais pour leur première expérience en Europe.

« Pour nous à l’époque, le jet privé, ce n’était pas atteignable. Pour un joueur de National, il était le troisième plus gros transfert du FC Metz (4 millions d’euros, environ 2,6 milliards FCFA). Vous vous imaginez ? Nous étions dans le bus pour aller jouer un match de National. Il est descendu du bus pour aller en Autriche, son avion l’attendait. Et à chaque fois que je me souviens de ça, je me mets à rire tout seul », ajoute l’actuel avant-centre du RFC Seraing, sous la houlette de Mbaye Lèye, en Challenger Pro League (D2 belge).

« Désiré, c’est Désiré, Sadio, c’est Sadio »

La face cachée de sa proximité avec le Sénégalais, c’est que le Béninois est étiqueté presque partout ami de Sadio Mané. « Sadio et moi sommes amis depuis plus de 15 ans. Avant, on ne m’associait pas à lui comme c’est le cas aujourd’hui. Aujourd’hui, Sadio est mondialement connu, c’est mon meilleur ami, et comme nous sommes tout le temps ensemble, je crois que l’idée vient de là ! S’il n’était pas connu, le problème ne se serait pas posé », dit-il, assumant sa relation avec l’attaquant d’Al-Nassr FC. « Je suis très heureux d’avoir un garçon comme ça comme meilleur ami. »

Mais, un brin agacé, il ajoute : « Quand c’est récurrent, c’est chiant ! (…) Ces gens qui nous associent, ce sont des gens qui viennent de nous connaître. Les personnes qui nous connaissent depuis longtemps ne vont pas toujours nous associer. Désiré, c’est Désiré, Sadio, c’est Sadio. Chacun a sa vie. Nos carrières sont différentes. (…) Pour tout vous dire, ils peuvent raconter ce qu’ils veulent, ça ne pourra pas changer l’amitié qu’il y a entre Sadio et moi. »
