C’est dans ce contexte stabilisé et déblayé par une nouvelle Fédération que débarque Aliou Cissé sur le banc des « Chevaliers de la Méditerranée » comme l’oasis tant recherchée pour faciliter la traversée. Le critère de son choix est allé bien au-delà de sa victoire à la CAN 2021 au Cameroun. La Libye était plutôt à la recherche d’un meneur d’hommes, doté d’un charisme. Le profit idéal pour rebâtir, restaurer l’autorité au sein des vestiaires et consolider l’esprit de groupe. Autant d’éléments qui ont convaincu Abdelmola El Mograbi de totalement donner son accord.

Un protégé de la famille Haftar

Cependant, la présence du natif de Ziguinchor en Libye ne s’est faite au hasard. C’est le résultat d’une convergence de vues entre hommes influents issus du milieu sportif libyen et des affaires ayant des liens solides et d’un choix concerté sur le profil que les « Chevaliers du désert » rechercheraient pour rebondir sur le continent. Les uns ayant trouvé le profil idéal, les autres ayant adhéré aux arguments avancés par ceux qui ont fait la trouvaille. Le tir a atteint la cible quand Ali Chérif, propriétaire de Club à Benghazi, a jeté son dévolu sur l’ancien sélectionneur du Sénégal.

Pour lui, c’est l’homme qu’il faut à son pays. Mais entre trouver et s’attacher ses services, il y a plusieurs étapes et plusieurs avis à prendre. Il s’en ouvre à Khaled Haftar frère de son épouse en même temps fils du Maréchal Khalifa Haftar, l’homme fort de Benghazi dont l’accord pèsera lourd dans la décision à prendre pour trouver le moyen de faire venir Aliou Cissé. Une première porte s’ouvre et un premier palier est franchi pour faire la bonne pioche tant recherchée dans le processus de reconstruction du football libyen.

L’étape suivante a été celle de convaincre les dirigeants au plus haut niveau. Il s’agit de Faouzi Jaouda vice-président et secrétaire général de la Fédération, natif de Benghazi, et à un niveau plus élevé le patron El Mograbi. Ils s’accrochent et ne lâchent pas l’affaire. Les deux hommes ont finalement été saisis arguments à l’appui pour s’attacher les services de Cissé. Au départ le schéma était d’en faire un directeur technique national en charge du développement du football dans le pays. Entre-temps, l’idée d’en faire un sélectionneur national a germé dans la tête des dirigeants libyens, qui finissent par s’accorder sur ce nouveau choix. Leur entente aboutit à son recrutement comme sélectionneur des Chevaliers de la Méditerranée.

De fil en aiguille, ils égrènent le chapelet des solutions et parviennent à lever la barrière linguistique qui pouvait constituer un handicap avec l’investissement personnel de son agent tunisien comme traducteur. La voie s’est ainsi ouverte à Cissé pour s’installer sur le banc libyen avec à la clé un contrat jusqu’en 2027 car plus rien ne pouvait s’y opposer.

Car il s’agit d’hommes influents qui incarnent non seulement le pouvoir en Libye mais qui sont aussi les tiers payeurs de Aliou Cissé et son staff.

Si les récents événements ont donné à la Libye une réputation de pays instable, c’est un terrain déblayé qui s’étend désormais devant la nouvelle recrue libyenne comme un tapis ou sécurité et confort sont réunis. Toute une histoire partie de sa présence sur le banc du Sénégalais qui s’est transformée en nouvelle aventure en terre libyenne avec l’implication du puissant Maréchal Haftar sur tout le processus.
