Arrivé en février dernier en provenance de l’ASC Bambey, le jeune avant-centre sénégalais Paul Mendy poursuit sa progression prometteuse au sein de Cagliari, un club de Serie A. Un véritable talent en devenir.
Formé au Sénégal, Paul Mendy a fait forte impression avec les U18 de Cagliari, marquant 3 buts en 6 matchs. Rapidement, il a été intégré au groupe de la Primavera 1, la catégorie des U20, où il a fait ses débuts contre l’US Cremonese (0-2). Après avoir joué 19 minutes lors de cette rencontre, il vise désormais à enchaîner les matchs et à augmenter son compteur-buts.
Polyvalent, Paul Mendy peut évoluer en pointe ou jouer aux côtés d’un autre attaquant en adoptant un rôle plus libre. Il sait aussi servir de point d’appui et exploiter les espaces laissés par les défenseurs adverses. Gaucher, il se distingue par son excellent physique et sa grande vitesse.
Il est à noter que Paul Mendy est la deuxième vente de l’ASC Bambey vers l’Italie, après le transfert de Mamadou Ndoye à la Reggina 1914 en septembre 2024.
