L’équipe nationale du Sénégal de Beach soccer s’est rachetée, en reversant la Colombie (5-3), ce dimanche 18 février 2024, au Dubaï design district stadium, comptant pour la deuxième journée de la 22e édition de la Coupe du monde de la discipline, qui se déroule du 15 au 25 février 2024 aux Émirats arabes unis.
Battu lors de la première journée par la Biélorussie, le Sénégal a rectifié le tir en dominant la Colombie (5-3). Pourtant, le début de la rencontre n’a pas été favorable pour les protégés de Mamadou Diallo, cueillis à froid.
Les Sénégalais, dominés littéralement dans le jeu, ont concédé deux buts inscrits par les Colombiens Esleider De Avila (1-0, 2’) et Juan Ossa (2-0, 8’), avant que Mandione Diagne ne réduise le score (1-2, 19’). Suite à un manque de concentration, Eduardo Lopez marque le troisième but des Colombiens (3-1, 27’).
Alors, les Sénégalais, piqués dans leur orgueil, se rebiffent et parviennent à réduire à nouveau le score, par l’entremise de Papa Ndoye (29’). Avant de monter en puissance dans les dernières minutes de la rencontre. La formation colombienne n’avait plus de jus pour contenir les assauts offensifs sénégalais.
Les Lions de la plage ont profité de cette fébrilité physique pour renverser les Colombiens, suite à des réalisations de Raoul Mendy (31), Ousseynou Faye (36’) et Mamour Diagne (38’). Cette première et prestigieuse victoire hisse le Sénégal (3 pts+0) à la 2e place, tandis que la Colombie (0 pt-3) devient dernière du groupe.
En lever de rideau, la Biélorussie a remporté (3-1) le duel au sommet face au Japon. En enchaînant deux succès, les Biélorusses (6 pts+4) confortent leur fauteuil de leader, par contre les Japonais (3 pts-1) chutent au 3e rang.
Le Sénégal tentera de décrocher sa qualification face au Japon, le mardi 20 février 2024, comptant pour la 3e et dernière journée du groupe C, après la rencontre entre la Colombie et la Biélorussie.
