L’ex-milieu de terrain du Jaraaf, international sénégalais, vise le top 5 avec Ittihad de Tanger (24 pts) qui occupe présentement la 11e place au classement dirigé par FAR de Rabat (55 pts).

Vous êtes arrivé en décembre dernier à l’Ittihad Tanger. Comment se sont noués les contacts ?
La saison dernière, j’ai joué la moitié du championnat au SC Pombal (D4, Portugal). À la fin de la saison, j’ai eu des contacts à Ittihad Tanger. Cela a été facilité par un agent qui m’a demandé de venir au Maroc. Une demande que j’ai acceptée. J’ai signé un contrat de deux ans. Je vis normalement ma passion à Ittihad Tanger. Pour dire que si je restais encore au Portugal, cela ne m’arrangerait pas.
Comment s’est passée votre intégration ?
Elle a été très facile. Parce que là où je vais, je montre toute la détermination et l’engagement qu’il faut. Je me suis imposé pour intégrer très rapidement l’effectif. Je n’ai raté que deux matchs, à savoir les deux premières journées. Je n’étais pas encore qualifié. Lors de la troisième journée, j’ai fait mon baptême du feu dans le championnat marocain.
Il y a aussi votre compatriote El Hadji Youssoupha Konaté. Certainement, il a joué un rôle dans votre intégration express ?
C’est quelqu’un de bien. Je l’ai trouvé sur place. Je peux dire que c’est un ancien du club. On s’entend très bien parce qu’on s’est déjà connu en sélection nationale locale. Il m’a beaucoup aidé afin que je puisse prendre mes repères et m’intégrer facilement au niveau du club et sur tout. On discute de tout.
Est-ce à dire que vous êtes venu relancer votre carrière au Maroc ?
En allant au Portugal, je m’étais fixé l’objectif de faire une bonne saison afin de pouvoir évoluer dans des clubs plus huppés. C’était vraiment mon objectif. Dieu a fait que j’y ai joué une saison (en 2019, avec Rio Marior SC). Après je suis resté pour jouer une demi-saison (avec le Marialvas), avant d’atterrir au Maroc. Je joue régulièrement et donne le meilleur de moi-même durant toutes les rencontres. Je me bonifie vraiment. Le championnat marocain a un bon niveau.
Actuellement, Ittahad Tanger est à la 11e place. Le fait de battre l’ogre Wydad Casablanca a-t-il donné un nouvel élan à l’équipe ?
Nous avons gagné des places. Il nous reste sept matchs à disputer avant la fin du championnat. Notre objectif est de figurer dans le top 5. C’est notre objectif intermédiaire. Nous sommes en train d’y travailler avec le coach (le Marocain Hilal Ettar). Nous sommes tous conscients de cela. C’est pourquoi nous essaierons de gagner les autres matchs pour nous hisser dans le peloton de tête.
Vous avez certainement des souvenirs du championnat local. Lesquels vous ont le plus marqué ?
Ce qui m’a le plus marqué au Jaraaf, c’était lors de ma première saison. Le premier but de la saison, je l’avais inscrit. Ensuite, nous avons réussi à remporter le championnat (en 2018). Pour dire vrai, dans le championnat sénégalais, j’ai joué des matchs sans aucune difficulté. C’est vrai que nos matchs étaient difficiles parce que le Jaraaf est l’équipe à battre dans ce championnat. Toutes nos rencontres étaient considérées comme des finales. C’est pourquoi, à notre tour, nous faisions tout notre possible pour gagner.
